YT Pitch Shifter Support
Updated: 2026-10-02
YT Pitch Shifter supports YouTube video pages and Shorts in desktop Chrome 116 or later. Audio processing runs locally on your device.
Audio processing does not start
- Open a standard YouTube video page or Short.
- Click the extension icon in the YouTube tab to open the Side Panel and activate that tab, or turn it on with the Side Panel switch.
- For speed or pitch adjustments, keep “Enable Speed & Pitch” on. Turn off “Change pitch with playback speed” to use Pitch and Fine Tune.
- Enable Reverb or EQ, or set Output Gain to a value other than 0 dB, to use those controls.
- If capture is denied, click the extension icon on the YouTube tab and try again.
Only one YouTube tab can be active at a time. To switch, click the extension icon in the destination YouTube tab. If capture is denied, the previous tab remains active and the error appears in the Side Panel status.
Audio does not play or return
- Uncheck “ON” in the header to restore normal playback without resetting your preferences.
- If the issue continues, reload the YouTube tab.
Each section's Reset restores only its slider values and keeps its enable switch unchanged. Use Clear in the A/B repeat section to remove A/B points.
Reverb
Reverb works independently of Speed & Pitch. Enable Reverb, then use Mix, Room size, and Decay to adjust the effect. Turning off “Enable Reverb” stops only Reverb.
EQ and output gain
EQ runs after Reverb. Enable EQ to adjust the 60 Hz, 250 Hz, 1 kHz, 4 kHz, and 12 kHz bands from -12 to +12 dB. Output Gain ranges from -24 to +12 dB and works independently of EQ, Reverb, and Speed & Pitch.
If EQ is unavailable, turn “Enable EQ” off and on to retry. For an Output Gain error, turn the tab off and on. Scroll the Side Panel to reach controls below the visible area.
Playback speed and pitch
- Playback speed ranges from 0.50× to 2.00× in 0.01× increments.
- Manual pitch ranges from -13 to +13 semitones in one-semitone increments.
- Fine Tune adds -50 to +50 cents in 1-cent steps. ±12 semitones is one octave.
- “Change pitch with playback speed” uses Chrome's native speed-linked pitch behavior and disables the Pitch and Fine Tune sliders while keeping their saved values.
- Extreme settings may affect audio quality. Large speed changes can cause a brief pitch transient.
Ads, looping, and A/B repeat
During YouTube advertisements, audio processing, looping, and A/B repeat are bypassed and normal playback is used. Saved settings return for the main video. Video loop is enabled by default. A/B repeat takes priority over video loop and is cleared when the video changes.
